The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and Sacrificing Virgins.Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012,Since it does not shows a calender date after 21st dec 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.
I have looked at different piece of information and found that the Mayans meant to say that the day would be the day of "pole shift".
In 2012 the next polar reversal will take place on earth. This means that the North Pole will be changed into the South Pole. Scientifically this can only be explained by the fact that the earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, together with a huge disaster of unknown proportions..
During the time of pole shift a planet stops revolving for around 3 days!!!

The thread was not meant to scare anyone and I personally believe that the world is not going to end in 2012. but 1 thing is for sure that there would be some event on the date that would change our way of living completely.it might be chance of our natural system,dominating power,international boundaries or anything unexpected.. thebeginning is already seen with the current global scenario... whatever it may be,the only thing we can do is to keep our finger crossed,and hope for the best on the big date...."21st dec 2012"...
